Important reminders for treaters!

Hi everyone! We appreciate and welcome treats written by people who did not sign up for this round. However, it means we're unable to contact such individuals, since we don't have access to their email. So, we're posting reminders on this comm in the hopes that you see them:

Make sure your fics fit the wordcount requirements.
- Your posted drabble should be no more than 5 words away from a number ending in 100 (unless you have a reason you can point to for the discrepancy, such as punctuation adding extra words to AO3's count). A work tagged "Triple Drabble" that is 312 words, for instance, will not be accepted.
- If you have issues editing your fic to meet these standards, you can gift outside of the collection.
Make sure you are gifting to the correct person. Double-check the username to make sure punctuation like underscores are included.

Works with such issues will remain unapproved until fixed. Thank you!

Signups Closed, Plus 12-Hour Grace Period

Signups are now closed! Here is the expected timeline for the next couple days:

Like always, for the next 12 hours, we will be adding to people's signups upon request. This is intended for people who may have run into the character tagset bug when signing up close to the deadline, or whose nominations were approved late. However, anyone may ask to have characters added to their requests or offers. If you would like us to add to your signup, please post on the screened mod contact post or email us at seasonsofdrabbles@gmail.com. Please make sure to include your AO3 username.

After that window has closed, we will check the matching and send out emails to anyone who is unmatchable on offers. We'll also be checking individual signups at this time in case we find any issues there; if there are, those emails will also go out sometime tomorrow. Everyone we email will be given 12 hours to respond. Hopefully there will only be one round of emails that need to be sent out.

Barring unexpected delays, assignments will go out on Wednesday, October 18.

Signups Belatedly Open!

Signups are now open! My deepest apologies for the delay. They will remain open until October 16 (one day later) at 11:59pm Eastern time (Countdown). You can browse the requests in the app!

The tagset will remain open for nominations through the end of signups. If AO3 won't let you request a character that you know is definitely in the tagset, please comment here with the exact fandom and character(s) you were trying to request. A mod will then batch load it for you on the backend, and you will be able to request it.

You must request 3-10 fandoms with 1-20 characters and 1-7 drabble types each. Fandoms in your requests must be unique, but may be related (e.g., three Star Wars requests would be fine, as long as it was three separate Star Wars fandoms).

If you wish, you may request Any for drabble type. This means you are open to receiving any of the 7 drabble types in the tagset.

If you wish, you may request Any character. This means any character in the canon (NOT just the tagset). Please do not request Any unless you really are open to receiving any character from that canon.

If you have character DNWs, requesting Any might not be the best idea, as this could end up with a bad match with someone who had only offered that character. We will be checking for this before we send assignments, but it's possible we could miss something, which would lead to us having to re-assign your writer and send you to pinch hit. (Note that the character DNW would still be upheld in this situation.) If you are requesting Any and do not wish to receive fic about objects etc, you should DNW that as well.

Blank signups are allowed, but prompts, likes, and a list of DNWs are strongly encouraged.

Offers:

You must offer 3-10 fandoms with 1-20 characters and 1-7 drabble types each. Fandoms in your offers must be unique, but may be related (e.g., three Star Wars offers would be fine, as long as it was three separate Star Wars fandoms).

If you wish, you may offer Any for drabble type. This means you are open to writing any of the 7 drabble types in the tagset. (Note that unless your recipient has also requested Any, you must write one of the specific drabble types they requested.)

If you wish, you may offer Any character. This means any character in the tagset (i.e., if your recipient has requested specific characters, you must write one of them). Please do not offer Any unless you really are open to writing any character in the tagset for that fandom (including any last-minute additions to the tagset).

Do Not Wants:

Only reasonable DNWs in your AO3 signup will be enforced.

A reasonable DNW is a DNW that is clear and does not attempt to box your writer into writing just one thing.

Other:

Some tags may not appear in the drop-down menu, but can still be used by copy-pasting from the tagset itself. This is a known AO3 bug.

If you encounter any issues while signing up, please let us know ASAP, as AO3 bugs can sometimes hit exchanges. (We are aware of the character tag issue; please see the note at the top of this post!)

Nominations Guidelines - Fall 2023

Nominations are now open for the Fall 2023 round of Seasons of Drabbles!

Guidelines

The tagset is here. Nominations will remain open until signups close on October 15.

You may nominate up to 10 fandoms with up to 10 characters each.

All character nominations should be disambiguated, for example: Steve Rogers (Captain America (Movies)). Not doing this slows the approval process significantly, so please disambiguate! Characters may be nominated in any/every fandom in which they appear.

The tagset will be re-used through the end of 2023. Nominations will be wiped ahead of each new round to allow you to nominate new fandoms/characters for that round.

With some exceptions, both umbrella fandoms and sub-fandoms are allowed. For instance, you may nominate under Marvel Cinematic Universe or Star Wars - All Media Types. You may also nominate under sub-fandoms such as Thor (Movies) or Star Wars Original Trilogy. (Please remember that if you request Any for an umbrella fandom, you will be requesting any character who appears in any of the fandoms below the umbrella - NOT just characters in the tagset. So if you plan to request Any, you may want to request under a specific sub-fandom rather than the umbrella.) Please check the fandom notes section for exceptions prior to nominating!

RPF is allowed. Nominated RPF characters must be famous in their own right, and must be 18+ for modern RPF.

Crossovers are allowed. Crossover fandoms should be nominated as Fandom A/Fandom B. Character nominations for crossovers should be nominated as Character's Name (Fandom A/Fandom B). For example, if nominating Luke Skywalker for a Narnia/Star Wars crossover, the fandom would be nominated as Chronicles of Narnia/Star Wars, while the character would be nominated as Luke Skywalker (Narnia/Star Wars).

Recursive fandoms are allowed. The required format is Recursive: Fic/Series title - Creator. Recursive fandoms may be nominated under two circumstances: 1. the creator has posted a blanket permission statement, 2. you are the creator. In either case, please contact us when nominating so that we have the pertinent permissions. Characters nominated under recursive fandoms should be disambiguated with the title of the recursive fandom.

Since we will be re-using the tagset all year, recursive fandoms will be removed on an as-needed basis between rounds (only if a blanket permission statement comes down, or the creator asks for it to be removed).

Original Works are allowed. When nominating characters, please disambiguate with (Original Work). If an original character's gender is important to you, please specify it in your nomination.

Original characters may also be nominated in existing fandoms. When nominating an original character within an existing fandom, please disambiguate with the name of the fandom. If an original character's gender is important to you, please specify it in your nomination.

Objects/concepts/etc may be nominated in the character slot for any canon in which they appear. For Original Works, you can make some up if you would like.

Seasons of Drabbles - Fall Round 2023

Seasons of Drabbles is an exchange for the creation of drabbles and drabble variants. It will run once per season*. The current round is for fall 2023.

*4x per year, with each round taking place sometime sometime within a three-month period (March-May, June-August, September-November, December-February). Each round will take about a month from nominations through author reveals.

Feedback Post

Hello everyone, thanks for another great round! We have a couple questions we'd be interested in getting your thoughts on! If you'd prefer to share your feedback privately, you can also leave a comment on the Mod Contact post, where all comments are screened.

1. Age requirement. We do not currently have an age requirement in place. Would you support adopting one? If so, would you like it to be an absolute cutoff (e.g., must be 18+ to participate at all) or conditional (e.g., participants under 18 may not request/write NSFW drabbles)? Please let us know if you have other suggestions, as well.

2. Timing of next round. We'd be curious to know when participants would prefer that the next round take place—the options are September, October, and/or November.

The collection will remain open indefinitely for treating and moderation has now been turned off. We encourage you to continue reading and commenting as well. In addition, you may wish to redate your works, if you haven't already. Please note that AO3 might take a little time to completely reveal all authors.

A feedback post will be up later with some specific questions, so stay tuned for that.
