Our first Summer round has ended!

Authors have now been revealed and there are an amazing 334 works in the collection as of now. Thanks so much to everyone who signed up, pinch hit, treated, or left feedback of any kind; this exchange could not have happened without all of you!

The collection will remain open indefinitely for treating. We encourage you to continue reading and commenting as well!

Please contact us if you have any lingering questions, concerns, etc. A feedback post will be up soon, asking when people would like the next round to be. We will announce the schedule for the next round before the month of August ends.

Please note that AO3 might take a little time to completely reveal all authors.

The collection for the Summer 22 round of Seasons of Drabbles is now live!

Please contact us if:

You completed your assignment on time, but do not have a gift in the collection.
Your gift is not for a fandom, character, and drabble type you requested (remember that requesting Any character = any character in the canon, unless DNW'd in your AO3 signup).
Your gift contains a DNW from your AO3 signup.

If you're still working on a drabble, or start working on one later, you may post it to the collection during the anon period and beyond. Moderation has now been turned off, although we are still currently in the process of reviewing some drabbles that came in overnight. The collection will remain open indefinitely.

Authors will be revealed in 48 hours - a tiny period of secrecy for all your tiny fics.

EDIT: We had some problems with works properly revealing, and had to re-reveal the collection to fix it. Please don't be alarmed by extra gift emails!

All but one of the works is revealed now, and we are fixing the last.

There are under 4 days left in the treating period! As a reminder, you can browse all requests in the app. The collection will open Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 1:00pm Eastern (Countdown).

Treats must be for a fandom and character the recipient requested, must be a length they requested, and must not include reasonable DNWs from their AO3 signup. Drabble treats that do not fit any recipient's request may be posted to the collection without a recipient.

We have 2 post-deadline pinch hits, due at noon Eastern Time on Saturday 30 July. We're willing to be flexible if needed, so please let us know if you'll need more time.

For the requirements your drabble must meet, please see our guidelines. The collection is moderated and we will be doing a brief check of submitted works before admitting them into the collection. If we see an issue, we will contact you through email.

If you write a drabble for a fandom in the tagset but it doesn't fit anyone's request, you may post it to the collection anyway, with no recipient.

Signups are now closed! Here is the expected timeline for the next couple days:

Like last round, for the next 12 hours, we will be adding to people's signups upon request. This is intended for people who may have run into the character tagset bug when signing up close to the deadline, or whose nominations were approved late. However, anyone may ask to have characters added to their requests or offers. If you would like us to add to your signup, please post on the screened mod contact post or email us at seasonsofdrabbles AT gmail. Please make sure to include your AO3 username.

Tomorrow afternoon Eastern time, we will check the matching and send out emails to anyone who is unmatchable on offers. We'll also be checking individual signups at this time in case we find any issues there; if there are, those emails will also go out sometime tomorrow. Everyone we email will be given 24 hours to respond. Hopefully there will only be one round of emails that need to be sent out.

Barring unexpected delays, assignments will go out by Wednesday, July 13.

Below you can find some important reminders as both nominations and signups continue. You'll also find a couple queries we have about some nominated tags. Please check if they are your nominations!

Reminders:

You must disambiguate when nominating characters. Non-disambiguated nominations make the whole approval process slower. If your nominations haven't been approved yet, check to see if you've disambiguated them.
- You can disambiguate by putting the canon name, or an abbreviation, in parentheses at the end of the tag. Examples: Barry Allen (The Flash (TV 2014)), Arya Stark (GoT)

If AO3 won't let you request a character that you know is definitely in the tagset, please comment on the signups post with the exact fandom and character(s) you were trying to request. A mod will then batch load it for you on the backend, and you will be able to request it.

Some tags may not appear in the drop-down menu, but can still be used by copy-pasting from the tagset itself. This is a known AO3 bug.

Queries:

"Townperson" and "Traveler" have been nominated under Encanto. If these are meant to be original characters, let us know so we can change them to "Original Townperson" and "Original Traveler". If they are meant to be a specific character, please provide more detail in the nomination.

"Background & Cameo Characters" has been nominated under The Batman (2022). We've decided this is too broad and encourage the nominator to instead nominate something more specific.

Queried nominations that do not get fixed/responded to will be rejected.

Signups are now open! They will remain open until July 10, 11:59pm Eastern time (Countdown). You can browse the requests in this handy app, too.

The tagset will remain open for nominations through the end of signups. A clarifications/reminders post will be up sometime tomorrow.

Requests:

You must request 3-10 fandoms with 1-20 characters and 1-7 drabble types each. Fandoms in your requests must be unique, but may be related (e.g., three Star Wars requests would be fine, as long as it was three separate Star Wars fandoms).

If you wish, you may request Any for drabble type. This means you are open to receiving any of the 7 drabble types in the tagset.

If you wish, you may request Any character. This means any character in the canon (NOT just the tagset). Please do not request Any unless you really are open to receiving any character from that canon.

If you have character DNWs, requesting Any might not be the best idea, as this could end up with a bad match with someone who had only offered that character. We will be checking for this before we send assignments, but it's possible we could miss something, which would lead to us having to re-assign your writer and send you to pinch hit. (Note that the character DNW would still be upheld in this situation.) If you are requesting Any and do not wish to receive fic about objects etc, you should DNW that as well.

Blank signups are allowed, but prompts, likes, and a list of DNWs are strongly encouraged.

Offers:

You must offer 3-10 fandoms with 1-20 characters and 1-7 drabble types each. Fandoms in your offers must be unique, but may be related (e.g., three Star Wars offers would be fine, as long as it was three separate Star Wars fandoms).

If you wish, you may offer Any for drabble type. This means you are open to writing any of the 7 drabble types in the tagset. (Note that unless your recipient has also requested Any, you must write one of the specific drabble types they requested.)

If you wish, you may offer Any character. This means any character in the tagset (i.e., if your recipient has requested specific characters, you must write one of them). Please do not offer Any unless you really are open to writing any character in the tagset for that fandom (including any last-minute additions to the tagset).

Do Not Wants:

Only reasonable DNWs in your AO3 signup will be enforced.

A reasonable DNW is a DNW that is clear and does not attempt to box your writer into writing just one thing.

Other:

Some tags may not appear in the drop-down menu, but can still be used by copy-pasting from the tagset itself. This is a known AO3 bug.

If you encounter any issues while signing up, please let us know ASAP, as AO3 bugs can sometimes hit exchanges. (We are aware of the character tag issue; please see the note at the top of this post!)

If you need to let us know something about your signup (such as not wanting to be assigned to a specific other participant), please contact us via email (seasonsofdrabbles AT gmail) or the mod contact post.

ETA: We realized we had not cleared the nominations completely from last round. They have been cleared as of 10AM Eastern time, June 27. If you nominated anything before then, please re-nominate. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Nominations are now open for the Summer 2022 round of Seasons of Drabbles!

Guidelines

The tagset is here. Nominations will remain open until signups close on July 10.

You may nominate up to 10 fandoms with up to 10 characters each.

The tagset will be re-used through the end of 2022. Nominations will be wiped ahead of each new round to allow you to nominate new fandoms/characters for that round. If your fandom existed prior to January 2022, please check the tagset before nominating, as the fandoms/characters you want may already be there.

All character nominations should be disambiguated, for example: Steve Rogers (Captain America (Movies)). Characters may be nominated in any/every fandom in which they appear.

With some exceptions, both umbrella fandoms and sub-fandoms are allowed. For instance, you may nominate under Marvel Cinematic Universe or Star Wars - All Media Types. You may also nominate under sub-fandoms such as Thor (Movies) or Star Wars Original Trilogy. (Please remember that if you request Any for an umbrella fandom, you will be requesting any character who appears in any of the fandoms below the umbrella - NOT just characters in the tagset. So if you plan to request Any, you may want to request under a specific sub-fandom rather than the umbrella.) Please check the fandom notes section for exceptions prior to nominating!

RPF is allowed. Nominated RPF characters must be famous in their own right, and must be 18+ for modern RPF.

Crossovers are allowed. Crossover fandoms should be nominated as Fandom A/Fandom B. Character nominations for crossovers should be nominated as Character's Name (Fandom A/Fandom B). For example, if nominating Luke Skywalker for a Narnia/Star Wars crossover, the fandom would be nominated as Chronicles of Narnia/Star Wars, while the character would be nominated as Luke Skywalker (Narnia/Star Wars).

Recursive fandoms are allowed. The required format is Recursive: Fic/Series title - Creator. Recursive fandoms may be nominated under two circumstances: 1. the creator has posted a blanket permission statement, 2. you are the creator. In either case, please contact us when nominating so that we have the pertinent permissions. Characters nominated under recursive fandoms should be disambiguated with the title of the recursive fandom.

Since we will be re-using the tagset all year, recursive fandoms will be removed on an as-needed basis between rounds (only if a blanket permission statement comes down, or the creator asks for it to be removed).

Original Works are allowed. When nominating characters, please disambiguate with (Original Work). If an original character's gender is important to you, please specify it in your nomination.

Original characters may also be nominated in existing fandoms. When nominating an original character within an existing fandom, please disambiguate with the name of the fandom. If an original character's gender is important to you, please specify it in your nomination.

Objects/concepts/etc may be nominated in the character slot for any canon in which they appear. For Original Works, you can make some up if you would like.

Fandom notes:

Do not nominate The Avengers (Marvel Movies). Any MCU character who appears only in The Avengers movies should be nominated under Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For Disney's What If...?, characters should include the season/episode number in the disambiguation. E.g. if nominating Peggy from the first episode of s1, the character tag should be Peggy Carter (What If s1e1). Characters may be nominated for any episode in which that specific version of the character appeared.

There may be other special cases we are currently unaware of. If your fandom requires unique consideration, please reply to this post to let us know. Additionally, please keep an eye on the Dreamwidth community, as we are likely to post clarification requests as nominations come in.

*4x per year, with each round taking place sometime sometime within a three-month period (March-May, June-August, September-November, December-February). Each round will take about a month from nominations through author reveals.

Hi everyone. Apologies for the radio silence on the spring round, but wanted to let you know that Seasons of Drabbles will definitely be on for a summer round. The exact dates are still yet to be determined, depending on the mods' schedules, but updates will be posted to this comm.

Looking forward to more drabbles! :)

ETA May 27: The schedule for the summer round will be posted on or before June 10th, so keep an eye out for that.
